What is the “O-shot”?
Changes in womens' genitalia naturally occur as a result of childbearing, hormonal changes and aging1. The “O-shot” Platelet Rich Plasma helps alleviate some of the symptoms associated with these changes, including:
- Stress incontinence
- Overactive bladder
- Lack of lubrication
- Sexual dysfunction (i.e. lack of libido, arousal or painful intercourse)2
How does it work?
PRP therapy works by obtaining a sample of your own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge, and then extracting the plasma portion. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the area, and once numbed, a local anesthetic is applied. The plasma is then injected into two sites: the anterior vaginal wall between the vagina and the urethra, and the clitoris3. The platelets play a key role in tissue regeneration—causing improved vascularity, neuronal regrowth and collagen regrowth. All of these factors lead to an increase in blood flow, increase vaginal sensitivity, and improvement to stress incontinence and overactive bladder2.
