Many of our younger patients are just looking for a little plump, or an improvement in their shape. We specialize in a natural enhancement that fits with the rest of a person's features. As people age, additional issues arise, including the loss of fullness and diminished tissue health. Over time, repetitive movement around the lip area also creates fine verticle lines around the lips and deeper lines, such as marionette lines.
What is achieved with Lip Fillers?
Lip injections can be used to enhance a thin lip by volumizing or improve an ill-defined shape. Lip injections can balance out asymmetry in the lips, and help fill out fine lines around the mouth. Fillers may also be used to improve the downturned corners that can come either genetically, or with age.
What are additional options to improve lip fullness and the fine lines & wrinkles?
For various reasons, lip fillers may be accompanied by other procedures for optimal results. For example, tiny injections of neuromodulator (Botox® or Dysport®) may be recommended to soften the muscle movement around the lips for those with vertical lines, often referred to as either "smoker's lines" or "water bottle lines". These lines are common for most women as they age, but are generally worse in those with habits such as smoking, drinking from straws, or simply as a result of genetics.
Individuals with a gummy smile generally benefit from starting with injections of Botox® above the lip to decrease the pull of the muscle and then injections of dermal fillers to help fill out the lip and further decrease exposed gum tissue.
